Texte au verso : Village of Siloam from the South. The Valley of Kedron through which the historic Brook of Kedron ran, is the traditional site where the scene of the last judgment will take place. This tradition is founded on a rather loose interpretation of a passage of the book of Joel (III, 12). The Mohammedans and Christians have adopted the tradition from the Jews. The Moslems accordingly bury their dead on the east side, while the Jews have their cemetery on the west side of the mountain. At the time of the resurrection, the sides of the valley are expected to move farther apart in order to afford sufficient room for the great assembly on that notable day. At the present day the valley is dry, but the upper part is broad and well planted with olives. The bed of the extinct stream is full of interest to the traveller as he remembers the brook which once flowed by, over which the Savior passed to enter upon His passion in Jerusalem. The King's Dale is also near Kedron. The name comes from the opinion that David and Solomon bad splendid gardens here, the spot being even now most attractive. Nehemiah tells us that the King's Gardens were opposite the Pool of Siloam. A venerable mulberry tree is shown in the vicinity, which marks the spot where the Prophet Isaiah was put to death.
